It seems like Samsung has been a bit of a dark horse, letting the Sony Ericsson Idou – sorry Satio - claim all the glory whilst in fact preparing their own 12 megapixel device to crash the party!
The Samsung Pixon12 M8910 is the world’s first 12 megapixel cameraphone, equipped with a bevy of features that are sure to impress many including a 28mm wide angle lens, D1 (720 x 480) video recording at 30 frames per second, automatic adjustment to account for lighting conditions, as well as both a xenon and power LED flash.
The phone is well poised against the Satio in other respects, with a 3.1″ capacitive AMOLED touchscreen, all manner of media support including DivX and H.264 videos and TV out, 7.2 Mbps 3G connectivity and GPS, at the same time addresssing complaints levelled at the original Pixon by providing Wi-Fi support.
A June launch in Europe followed by a worldwide blitz in August officially makes this month one of the busiest ever, as every manufacturer releases their flagship handsets in a fiercely competitive market.
